Aref’s workshop, which was inaugurated in 2015, is a workshop for the manufacture, maintenance and repair of oriental wooden musical instruments. The workshop is a unique private project and one of its kind in Palestine, and provides students and professional musicians with maintenance, repair and manufacturing services of the highest standards and of different quality upon request.
The workshop has a creative side as well to reduce the problems of various instruments such as tuning and the stability of sound quality in the molds of wooden instruments, as the musician gets a high-quality instrument specially made according to his request in terms of specifications and personal requirements, with documentation of manufacture to each instruments using special and distinctive archiving methods for this purpose, since the musical instrument industry is considered a history and a tangible cultural heritage that is passed on from generations, and is considered a milestone for society, culture and the country.
The workshop works on studying the problems of various musical instruments such as the problems of tuning, molds, stability of wood, resonance, and updates to the structures of the instruments to develop their performance and quality with the help and assistance of Aref’s professional team who share the same artistic visions.
The workshop is managed by Aref Al-Sayed, using his studies and his distinguished and long experience in the manufacture and documentation of the Palestinian cultural heritage, as every instrument that is made and produced from the workshop contains effort, dedication and commitment, making it a living history and a distinctive legacy that distinguishes its owner, the artist, and makes the melodies that emerge from its folds A bright future that moves the Palestinian culture forward towards a bright and promising future.
