It is characterized by its simplicity and strength in construction, as it consists of several simple but extremely innovative engineered pieces, which makes developing it difficult and complex. The manufacture of this instrument is characterized by precision, and requires extensive knowledge of industry, music, and various sciences, as the oud is known for its extreme sensitivity to any change in structure and mold. At Aref Al-Sayed workshop, we care about the smallest details in terms of sound and shape, and linking the instrument to the player’s personality and the details he is looking for in this instrument. It is important to us that the player’s opinion of the details of the instrument and his keeping up with the stages of its manufacture so that this instrument is an essential part of his imagination and conscience while playing, as the operator works to choose the finest and rarest antique wood materials. The workshop also manufactures different levels of the instrument to be available to students, amateurs and professionals.  |
With the scientific and technological development, and the orientation of most traditional wooden instruments towards sound amplification, Arabic instruments such as the Oud and the Qanun lost their musical presence among all wooden instruments that contain audio amplifiers. Accordingly, Aref Al-Sayed developed the traditional Oud into an electric oud according to the needs of the players by adding the finest types of audio amplifiers to the instrument, in a new and modern form.
